Local 397, established December 01, 1970, was originally part of the Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers Union. In
1999, the OCAW merged with the United Paperworkers International Uion,
becoming the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical & Energy
Workers
Union.
In
2005, P.A.C.E. merged with the United Steel Workers of
America to become the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber,
Manufacturing, Energy, Allied-Industrial and Service Workers
International Unon.
USW
Local 397 is part of the International Fourth District, which
consists of members from Connecticut,
Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts,
New
Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Puerto
Rico, Rhode Island
and Vermont.
USW
is the largest industrial Union in North America with 1.2 million
members and retirees. |
